Photographer Jack Delano was tasked with showing American soldiers in action to boost public support for World War II. In 1942, he shot a photo series about a young man from Washington D.C. named George Camblair. The series captures Camblair’s journey through basic training, as well as his inspiring transformation from fresh faced boy to red-white-and-blue-blooded American killing machine.
