Ski ballet is exactly what it sounds like. Competitors ski down a gentle slope, performing choreographed twirls and jumps and splits to a musical accompaniment. Judges then gave each ballet skier a score out of 10. Athletes donned tassels and tights and colorful one pieces. It was an official, recognized sport from the late 1960s to 2000, and appeared as a demonstration event in the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics.
It’s got everything you look for in a competition.
