Unless you’re fascinated with neuroscience, study senses and perceptions or are a creative artist, you probably haven’t come across the condition of Synesthesia before. It’s a fascinating condition what scientists know very little about. People with synesthesia are capable of cross stimulation of their senses. When they hear music, they see colours, and can taste the sounds. Whoa.
Every case is different, but there have been documented cases where musicians hear musical notes as colours and write based on that. Or other people that say certain sounds taste like popcorn, or smell like burning rubber. There’s no explanation for it, and no understanding of how exactly it works.
But it’s so fascinating, especially because there are many different types of synesthesia and mind-blowing facts about it. Check ’em out.
