The 1970’s were a strange time in the movies, especially when it came to the horror genre. Generally, what makes a horror film scary, is that it touches upon something that is a collective fear of the society in question. Given that, during that decade, everyone was worried about Satanism, Bigfoot, possession, The Bermuda Triangle and serial killers, that’s what the movies were all about. While the ones that made it to the theatres were quality products, the major TV networks also tried to cash in on the cultural fears, with mixed results.
They’re cheesy, low-budget and filled with has-been actors and actresses. These are the kinds of movies you’d find buried deep in your specially channels, on a Saturday afternoon. Man, I miss those days.
