Hold doors open for others. Cover your mouth when you sneeze. Never take the urinal right next to someone unless it’s the last one available. Every aspect of society comes with unwritten rules, especially the workplace.
The biggest unwritten rule here at theCHIVE is that you can’t start drinking until 3 p.m. Unless we make a big sale. Or it’s someone’s birthday. Or… you know what? This is a bad example.
But we asked Chivers on Instagram to tell us the unwritten rules of their workplaces, and they’re full of examples of office tyranny extending well beyond the written law. Other examples in this gallery are just human decency… funny how those seem to be ignored the most in a professional setting.
