Ever since graduating and moving to a new state with theCHIVE, finding new friends in an unfamiliar city proved difficult at first. I had no family, no acquaintances, no mutual contacts in Austin, so I was basically starting over (thank goodness for my awesome co-workers). It took a few months to get my barrings but it didn’t come as easy as I expected when trying to develop new friendships. I suppose meeting like-minded people at a party and bonding over fireball shots wasn’t going to overlap in a professional setting.
So is it really difficult making friends as an adult? SOFARY recently put together a survey asking adults about this very subject. They broke it down for us to examining the best places and situations to engage someone for a potential friendship. Sounds strange, I know, but some of this info can be really helpful if you find yourself laking a drinking buddy.
