Author & artist Aaron Zenz has been recreating his own son’s monster concoctions for years and using them in his own kid’s book. The book was a big hit, so this year as a tribute, Aaron asked other artists from all around the world to chip in their own artistic renderings of little Elijah’s doodles (& other kids too) to let all new creative minds take a crack at the kid’s art.
Aaron explains, “All the characters in my picture book “Monsters Go Night-Night” are based on monster drawings my son Elijah made when he was 4 and 5 years old. The designs are my Elijah fan art tribute.
When the book released a few years ago, to celebrate, I invited other artists to also re-imagine Elijah’s original monster drawings in fan art. HUNDREDS of illustrations came in. I created a Twitter account, Instagram account, and hashtag #MonstersGo and have continued posting weekly monster prompts, now provided by all six of my kids.
There are currently around 1,250 pieces of MonstersGo artwork that have been created by artists from all over the world! Here are a few examples.”
