Archaeologist Oscar Nilsson is an incredibly skilled forensic artist who is dedicated to reconstructing the faces of the deceased. Nillson uses 3-D printed skulls of his “muses” in order to preserve the original skeletal excavations, then sculpts the rest of the facial features by hand.
His company, O.D. Nilsson, works with museums around the world to help them restore the faces of their archaeological excavations. “The human face is a motif that never ceases to fascinate me: the variation of the underlying structure as well as the variety in details seem endless,” he says. “And all the faces I reconstruct are unique. They are all individuals.”
