When Office Space hit theatres 20 years ago, nobody expected it to become the cubicle cult classic that it did. For Mike Judge, creator of Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill, it was his first attempt at writing and directing a live-action film, and it didn’t start off all that well.
With a budget of $10 million, the comedy only made $12.9 million at the box office, but thanks to repeated airings on TV and a good run on VHS and DVD, it became a widely quoted pop culture phenomenon that literally changed restaurant chains and stapler designs forever.
