Mike Leach began his coaching journey back in 1987 as the offensive line coach for Cal Poly. From there, he bounced around some other schools before becoming the head coach of Texas Tech back in 2000. After 9 years there, and a brief hiatus from coaching, he moved on to Washington State University from 2012-2019, and has taken over as the HC of Mississippi State.
While Leach is a well-respected coach that loves to run the pass happy air raid offense, it is his press conferences that EVERYONE wants to tune in for. Just a week ago, Leach was filmed talking to the MSU Volleyball team when he went off on a little tangent about Bigfoot. To those who don’t know Coach Leach, this may have sounded a little weird. For those of you who do know about his antics, this is just par for the course.
Leach has quite a way with words and, while he does tend to offer some good advice, journalists look forward to the odd side of his interviews every time he steps in front of the mic.
