Congratulations, internet. You did it.
When the trailer for the Sonic The Hedgehog film dropped earlier this year, the bizarre, big-blue-rat-with-human-teeth CGI design of the beloved video game hedgehog was unanimously mocked by casual observers — and it straight up offended diehard fans of the classic SEGA franchise.
The backlash online was so severe that Director Jeff Fowler announced the release date of the film would be pushed from November 2019 to February 2020; a full redesign of Sonic was in order. Based off reactions to the shiny new trailer boasting a shiny new Sonic, the redesign may just be worth it. Of course, we have no idea if the movie will be any good, but maybe now people will at least buy tickets.
