The Girl Next Door is a romantic-comedy that was released in 2004. Writers David Wagner and Brent Goldberg had previously written on National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, and they were joined by Stuart Blumberg for this project. The Animal director, Luke Greenfield was in charge of this buddy comedy/romance, and the cast was nothing to scoff at.
Obviously Elisha Cuthbert and Emile Hirsch lead the way. But don’t sleep on Christopher Marquette who would go on to star in Weeds, Criminal Minds, and Barry. Lest we forget about Timothy Olyphant, James Remar, and Paul Dano rounding out the cast. This ain’t your mother’s romance flick, I’ll say that much.
On the surface this may seem like a script designed for gratuitous nudity, but after watching the film, you come to realize that it’s got a lot of heart.
On it’s 20th anniversary, I’ve pulled some of the most poignant and inspiring quotes from this little rom-com that could.
