Tim Burton’s Batman was released 35 years years ago this month. The live action comic book flick stars Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight and Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Danny Elfman and Prince both lend their talents to the score and soundtrack respectively.
Batman became the fastest movie to reach $100 million at the box office. The film also held the title for largest Jack Nicholson opening weekend. That number lasted 14 years.
The film’s success is obvious, as it also spawned the original franchise with Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin. But nothing quite compares to the original. Cheers to Bruce, Alfred, and that absolute smokeshow Vicki Vale.
