Actor John Witherspoon played “Mr. Jones” in the 1995 original “Friday”.
Mr. Witherspoon was born and raised on the streets of the Motor City (Detroit, MI) and spent the 1960s-70s performing as a stand-up comedy.
During his career, he both became friends with and worked with legendary comedians such as Richard Pryor, Jay Leno, David Letterman and Robin Williams.
He is now 75 years old but back when he was a strapping young lad (53-yrs. old), Mr. Witherspoon was the perfect “Dad” to put a boot in Ice Cube’s a**.
This is my tribute to “Mr. Willy Jones”…the working-man “dog catcher” and his hysterically memorable movie lines.
