The Blob (1958 & 1988)
This classic horror flick revolves around a collection of small towns who are being attacked by what is known as “The Blob.” This alien goo is making its way around eating anything and everything in sight, and people are shitting themselves.
The inspiration for this movie came from what is known as “The Star Jelly Case” in Pennsylvania in which 4 small town officers stumbled across this dome shaped blob of jelly that completely dissolved as soon as they tried to pick it up. What it wound up being was a substance known as “star jelly” that sometimes lands on earth during meteor showers.
