SPLIT (2017)
Kevin Wendell Crumb (James McAvoy) struggles with multiple personalities, 23 to be exact. His dominant personalities force him to kidnap three teenage girls for the Beast (his superhuman 24th personality). In the end, the Beast savagely murders two of the girls, and promises to show the world how powerful he is after the third escapes. Not the happiest ending, but at least one girl lived. Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan originally intended to end with Kevin sitting outside a school, waiting for all the children. As they came out, Dennis would say, “Look at all those unbroken souls.” Patricia would answer, “Such a waste.” Then the screen would turn black, implying he’s about to feast.
