Todd Phillips’ The Hangover was released on June 5, 2009. It grossed over $467 million worldwide, on a budget of $35 million. The film proved to be one of the most successful comedies of the ’00s, even as the Judd Apatow crew and ‘The Frat Pack’ were pumping out hit after hit.
The film would spawn a sequel (which had already been planned before the original hit theaters) as well as a third completing the franchise.
15 years later, and The Hangover still holds up as one of the great road trip/party movies.
