The Super Bowl is this weekend and why are we still using Roman Numerals?

This Sunday the Chiefs and 49ers will face off against each other in Super Bowl LVIII. Or in layman’s terms, Super Bowl 58. So what is the history behind the NFL using Roman Numerals for the big game instead of you know…numbers?
The reasons are fairly simple. But let’s be clear, Super Bowls 1-4 were originally labeled as such. Roman Numerals did not come into play until Super Bowl V in 1971.
