There wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd when Toni Cornell performed ‘Hallelujah’ on Good Morning America Friday.
Toni, 12, teamed up with OneRepublic to perform the tribute to her late father, Chris Cornell. She also dedicated the song to Chester Bennington, a close friend of Chris who sang the hauntingly beautiful tune at his funeral less than two months before taking his own life.
“It’s an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them,” she said.
“Chester sang this at Chris’ funeral, and this is arguably one of the greatest songs written in the last 50 years,” OneRepublic’s singer Ryan Tedder said. “It’s a very special song to us, and I think to most people and especially to Toni [Cornell] as well.”
