This afternoon a tornado nearly two miles wide ripped through the Moore, the Southern suburb of Oklahoma City. The 30 square-mile wide debris trail resembles a war zone. The number of killed and injured continues to climb. Many are children. It’s now being reported that up to 5 schools were hit. The Moore hospital was also in the path of the tornado.
Many have lost everything. The search for survivors continues.
Homes will need to be rebuilt and theCHIVERS will assemble for that I have no doubt. But in the immediate future I’d like to get the word out on the things we can do to help.
You can donate directly to the Red Cross Central and Western Oklahoma Region right here.
You can also text 80888 (storm) to make a donation to the Salvation Army.
theCHIVERS will be called on to help, though the capacity and circumstance remains unclear. For now, you can send your story or request to Support[at]chivecharities[dot]org. Any immediate needs will make their way to me.
From the unprecedented 1999 Oklahoma tornado outbreak to the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing, the residents of Oklahoma have proven to be some of the most resilient people in our country. Tonight, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
