Since theCHIVE first opened its doors ten years prior, we had a policy, more of a tradition really, that makes theCHIVE so unique. Every Friday at 4pm we open the doors of theCHIVE to first responders, veterans, and any active duty military to belly up to the famous copper bar. You can stay as long as you want, there’s no bill, and you can even try your luck on theCHIVE’s slide. theCHIVE HQ has a mahogany slide from the 2nd floor to the 1st that was built on the maximum legal grade which had sprained more ankles than the New York Jets offensive line.
Friday Happy Hours were our way of giving back to those who fight for our freedom. It’s also separated us from other tech companies. If you walk into the lobby of Twitter or Facebook looking to have a cold beer with the boss, you probably get tasered. You could find Leo and I behind the copper bar every Friday serving those who serve us.
