Did you know that the largest spread in NCAA football history was when Savannah State took on the Florida State Seminoles in 2012? FSU was a MASSIVE 70.5 point favorite and was on their way to easily cover the spread when they were up 55-0 only halfway through the 3rd quarter. Vegas must have been upset when Mother Nature stepped in and the NCAA enacted a Mercy Rule after severe lighting initially delayed play, resulting in Savannah State covering the spread.
Now a large spread is normal in college football. There are 130 NCAA D1 football teams out there and everyone knows that some teams are of an unmatched caliber against the smaller schools. What about the NFL though?
The Jets are 19.5-point underdogs to the Chiefs this weekend is one of the largest spreads we have ever seen. The game is shaping up to be one-sided but is it likely that the Chiefs actually cover the spread and win by 20 points or more?
