A very unfortunate thing happened this past week, a Jr. Editor after reading some less than glowing remarks about his post decided to ban our own Joshua (a.k.a. Shiny). Now he didn’t know Joshua and certainly had no idea just how important a Chive persona he was banning in haste, but the fact remains he made that choice. Upon Rick/Ben/I learning this news we immediately made sure to Un-ban Joshua, which is where his status remains today. But still some real pain and damage had been done even in the short period of time in which this ban was in effect.

The editor who made this hasty error has apologized internally about 3 times and feels horrible, you can be assured. Internally Jr. editors have lost their “banning privileges” moving forward. Only senior editors can make such weighty calls. And frankly I always prefer that nuclear option to be the last one on the table.

As far as I can tell there should be no reason Joshua is not able to comment at this moment. I’ve reached out by email 3 times and haven’t heard back (as of now as I build this gallery on a Friday afternoon), which is totally understandable, BTW. But if anyone is able to text or reach out to him, I absolutely want to make this right for him, and obviously internally in our own ranks so to speak.

On the apology front, Ben and I are thinking of maybe Zach bringing Joshua in for a video chat sit-down conversation. Clear the air. Bust some balls (sorry, no pun intended, Joshua), get an update on his personal health status, and help heal this wound. Could be fun actually. We’ll see.

For now, I, like ALL of you, just want my Shiny one back.
