A week like this past one needed a heavy dose of comment catharsis. I get it. I genuinely do. No joke about that.
Losing something to the site that is as baked in as our own DNA is brutal. Nobody in or out of the office loves this, and I’m no exception to that disappointing feeling. Even my daily process of finding and gathering images & content has massively shifted from what I’ve become so accustomed to doing over the years. So this pain is as much mine as it is many of yours.
But I also can’t do anything to change the outcome that has been chasing theCHIVE down for a long time, which is that our Hotness-themed galleries had to go. And yeah, that’s a kick below the belt for me too.
I can get mired in the frustration of being unable to post MOST Hotness on the site, or I can find the fun in other ways. Those are my options. And you can stick around or never come back — those are your options.
I’ll never begrudge any of you who don’t wish to stick around because of the new reality. But for those of you who are still just a little curious…even morbidly curious…guys like Rick and I, and all the other Chive editors, are going to give it our all to bring you the Happy Escape you all need.
No matter what, I’ll be here doing my thing, doing my best to curate all of your top commentary (even when it slams me under a titanic-sized bus), because that’s what brings me the most joy.
This site, whether you accept the new necessary change or not, is about all of you! Guys like me are just a cog in the community wheel. And you deserve the absolute best from us at theCHIVE.
So while I still have my job here, I’ll give it both barrels, and I do hope that you’ll join me in this journey to find the joy wherever we can on the World Wide Web.
