Let’s get this out of the way: Hemp is NOT the same thing as marijuana. While both are from the cannabis family of plants, they were both bred for different purposes. Hemp was bred for its fiber, and marijuana was bred for… Well, you damn well know.
But the scientific difference comes down to THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the chemical in marijuana that makes it “fun.” Hemp has below 0.3% THC, and marijuana has well above 0.3% (usually about 10% THC, sometimes as high as 27%).
