Quite possibly the coolest squirrel ever.
It technically is a squirrel. What most people typically think of as squirrels are more appropriately called "tree squirrels". Squirrel refers to the family Sciuridae which also includes woodchucks, prairie dogs and CHIPMUNKS!
A squirrel is a squirrel. A chipmunk is a chipmunk. There is no sub category to squirrel genus. This is a chipmunk. On Chive. So the whole argument is irrelevant. Shut up and laugh fucktards.

I'm laughin'…I think it's cute as hell. BUT…It is indeed a "GROUND SQUIRREL" Also known as a chipmunk! They are all over the place up here and they sit on our deck and tease our weiner dogs terribly! Now THAT really makes me laugh!!!!
Well, this guy makes me feel a little guilty for all the chipmunks I caught in rat traps because they were eating my flowers. No, on second thought I really do believe they are furry rats. I do admire his patience and persistence in working with a wild animal, but his toy collection is freaking awesome!
Thats a fucking chipmunk.
