ah, the mancave. I've had many dreams that look a lot like this

  2. uber guy says:

I'd build it and see how long I could hit its existence from my wife

  3. Joe says:

that is awesome – when I get a house (again)I hope I can make something like that.

  4. thomas says:

I'd need a direct line to the kitchen

  5. stafferty says:

This is actually pretty cheap to make if you already have the door frame. It would probably only coast around $50-$75 depending on your lumber you use. I'm thinking of giving it a try.

  6. Mclovin' it says:

… i'm crying tears of joy and jealousy right now.
but which book activiates the locking mechanism?

  7. tommybhoy says:

I've always wanted a pool table in my house….now ave upped my game and want this "man-cave with secret entrance"

  8. randasaur says:

Hmm, I think I see some Robert Jordan, George R. R. Martin, Robin Hobb… Wait a second, HE STOLE MY BOOKS! I like him.

    • Randy says:

I read the Assassins Trilogy from Robin Hobb… it didnt' have an ending, made me pretty upset.

      • randasaur says:

I've only read the Soldier Son trilogy, not bad. Well written characters. Though, I think she tries to compensate for being female by being overly graphic at times. Try Martin, the Song of Ice and Fire series is pretty amazing.

When will the wheel of time series finish!!! i swear im gonna die before it does. I hope rand al thor makes it to the final battle against the dark one! fantastic good vs. evil set, THAT is what should be made into a theatrical version…. that is if money was no object. Robin Hobb is decent but i cant get into it like george rr martin or robert jordan. Anybody like Tad Williams?

  9. MiPo_TheGoaT says:

Ahh yes, the man cave….we all dream of it….right now I am settling for a section of my finished basement….My next house I am digging an underground man cave

  10. Dude says:

    Just like Anne Frank

  11. Mr Wesley says:

I have a bookshelf like that, only it leads to the downstairs bathroom.

  12. I want a secret sanctum! Only it will have a tree-fort entrance.

  13. MaDoGK says:

I've seen something like this on instructables…

  14. equalizermax says:

That's cool, they made the bedroom a mancave and let his wife sleep in the kitchen…

  15. nick says:

its cool, but its gonna suck when you drunk dive through and knock all the books off the shelf

  16. Bill says:

Just as a point of clarification – I didn't make it for my dad's birthday; my dad and I built it for my house. It lets you enter an addition over my garage. Some more photos and a couple videos of it are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/bill.rawlinson/Secret

  17. Adriel says:

I wish I had something like that when the cops raided our college house, maybe could have fooled them….

  18. Kyle says:

I'm buying a house in the next year or two. I am so doing this.

  19. cara says:

So how many times a day do you think he had to pick up those books off the floor (because they fall when he opens the door- for those of you who need it spelled out) before he hot glued them all to the shelves…

    • Bill says:

never; the books don't fall off. The door is really heavy so you'd have to try really hard to open or close the door hard enough to dislodge the books.

Plus, since the door is so heavy I'd be afraid to open or close it too hard (particularly open) as I don't want that much stress on the hinge.

  20. Cudaman says:

One friend of mine had a 4 car garage with double roll up doors. Anyways, he has one side to look like it was a storage area and a fridge at the entrance. Open up the fridge and you could enter the man cave that had his jam room all set up……. a drum set 1 electric guitar and amp and a bass with an amp. It was fun to rock out and annoy the neighbors. The neat part was the surveillance set up, we could see the cops before they got to the house. By the time they knocked on the door, we had already quit playing and would open the garage doors and say what music? Man I miss those days sometimes.
