Russian photographer Sergey Larenkov is an amateur photographer and vintage postcard collector who married his two passions into a very cool series of then-and-now photos with the help of our friend Photoshop. It really puts history into perspective and shows we've come a long way in a short amount of time.

Great post, cnacu6a Cep7eu! A lot of these are from Cankt-Peterburg, starting with #7 Kazan Cathredral. We in the west only have a dim idea of the horrendous catastrophe Hitler's 900 Day Siege of Leningrad (Saint-Petersburg) was. It's weird when you walk around Saint-Petersburg today and realize that virtually all the old people you see lived through it, they are as they say "Children of the Blockade". It's sort of like seeing these pics real-life.

I really enjoyed the photos. Even recognize some of the scenes as I live in Europe.
I'm having a problem with #14. The flags above the buildings are German, however the troops are carring a soviet flag. As far as I know the Soviets were never in Paris during the war. So who's soldiers are pictured and why are they carring that flag????
The flags on the building are German cause these pictures are taken in Berlin.
