  • jrey81

#13 i have a bad feeling about Hipster usage of this one… also, i feel like a junkie, I keep refreshing The Chive homepage hoping the Tee's will go live.

    • NAACP

It's on the chive. That means it's too mainstream for hipsters. You probably never knew that.

  • Nardee

Well, this post seems very PC

    • cmon

      baaaaahahahahaha

    • AsciiAdam

There is nothing wrong with apple computers, they just cost to much. Well, that and no one makes software for them. Oh, and before you say it, the reason that people make viruses for PCs is because everyone uses a PC. Why write a virus for some thing no one uses except college kids and people that want to waste money i.e. 1% of the population.

  • Oooops

This post should've been entitled: "YOU SIR, ARE A F*CKING NERD"

  • http://thechive.com/ GernBlansten

Looks like #4 has already had close encounters of the baseball bat kind.

    • Just Sayin'

      Swing and miss.

  • NebraskaGuy

#18 I have enough parts, I could probably build this.

    • NAACP

  • equalizermax

    #13 & #14 are not computer parts

    • Eric

Actually #13 could very well be. Just like diskettes used to be used to store data, you could also use cassette tapes.

      See: http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/securitymonkey/crimin

#14 is too far way but those look more like music cassettes.

      /get off my lawn

    • old fogie

my first year of high school was 1980 (yes there are 45 year old chivers) and we got PET computers with a tape drive. space invaders took 45 mins to load.
here's a link to the first picture i could find. http://levgrossman.com/category/the-archaeology-o

so the cassette has as much place in this post as the floppy discs.

      • Underbaker

My first computer was an Atari 800 and had a cassette tape drive to load programs, it took me about 45 minutes to load "Empire of the Over-mind" an awesome text based adventure game, not to mention the first Zork. My old nerdiness is showing.

  • BloodScrubber

#5 Now there is a novel idea. Or rig a needle and a rheostat to it and play those old 45 records you have layin around. 😉

  • The_Dood

#13 and #14 computer parts eh?

    • Nardee

Pfffft, kids. I programmed a game once on a cassette tape, in the snow, uphill both ways.

      • elay1300

you can always tell who the youngsters are…SMH @ not knowing at one time you could store data on a cassette tape that's like not knowing about punch cards. I can hear them now its just paper with holes in it !

        • stephanie

radio shack's Coco II and Coleco ADAM both used cassette tapes.
BTW I learned prgraming on punch cards in high school AND my first computer (Tandy 1000) didn't even have a hard drive.
