Mercer just released their 2016 rankings for the cities around the globe that boast the highest quality of life. In making said list, they take internal stability, crime levels, performance of local law enforcement, and the home country’s relationship with other countries into consideration. Only 1 North American city made it into the top 10, can you guess which one?

Copenhagen is one of those cities in which most residents speak near perfect English, so you’ll have no problem finding your way around town. The largest financial center in Continental Europe has a great mix of modern skyscrapers and historic buildings. There are plenty of museums, art galleries, and hot spots for a night out.
Love Christmas? Dusseldorf plays host to to an incredibly magical Christmas Market every November and December. Old town also is a beer lovers paradise- more than 260 drinking dens line its streets, and the area is often regarded as “the longest bar in the world.” History buff? Dusseldorf also has over 26 museums and 100 galleries to get your art fix.
Known as Hollywood North, Vancouver is a hot spot for celebs and film sets. It also is also very green, and incredibly active. With tons of cyclists and outdoor yoga parties, this city likes to keep fit. It’s historic Gastown District has a magical vibe with it’s lamp lit cobblestone streets and famous steam clock.

Street Art. Auckland is an incredibly diverse, and generally safe place to live. It is also brilliantly located within driving distance of activities such as snorkeling, skiing, and surfing.
Zurich is a sweet spot to live for a multitude of reasons. Most people speak English, it is a great place to take cheap flights to other European destinations, there’s free health care, and they have a low crime rate. It also goes without saying, Zurich is a beautiful city.
The number 1 ranked place on Mercer’s list is the lovely Vienna. With incredibly beautiful architecture, great public safety, public transportation, museums, and plenty of great places to eat, it’s no wonder Vienna is so highly touted.
