Peter the Great Statue, Moscow.
A 315 ft (96 m) high monument erected in 1997, it weighs around 1,000 tons and contains 600 tons of stainless steel, bronze and copper.
The statue is allegedly based on a design originally intended to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1992. When an American customer for the project could not be found, it was repurposed with a Russian theme.
A similar statue, commemorating Columbus, is currently in Puerto Rico (unassembled) after that to was rejected by several US cities.
