In the early 2000s, legendary animator and director Genndy Tartakovsky’s Samurai Jack carved out a loyal cult following with its gorgeous action sequences and animation, which combined modern art with classical Japanese and comic book-influenced styles to create a show unlike anything else.
But the cartoon about a soft-spoken samurai seeking revenge on the evil Aku for destroying his home and flinging him into a portal to the future was cancelled after 52 episodes in 2004.
Now Adult Swim is taking us back, back to the past.
Cartoon Network announced a final season will begin on March 11, and a beautiful, gritty new trailer released earlier this week has fans beyond excited.
