If there’s one thing that is a constant in the universe is that old ideas will get recycled when someone can’t think of something new. I mean, it makes sense. It was successful before, so why can’t it be again? You see this in fashion, in design, but the place you’ll see it the most is in Hollywood.
They love to keep on feeding us the same ideas and franchises to keep the money train rolling, rather than take a risk on a new property. In some cases, reboots and new instalments are successful and new and old generations of fan climb on board. But for every success like Batman Begins or Casino Royale, there are spectacular failures like these. And you know what does them in? They underestimate our nostalgic love for the originals and our preference for them.
Sorry reboots. You tried.
