As a society, we often speak about all the things we’d love to attempt just once in our lives before our time expires. But what about the scary, dangerous, and often downright dumb things we have done that our only wish is never to replicate again? And so the “anti-bucket list” was created by those who vow never to repeat a specific event a second time.
I’ll lead by mentioning one of my own moments. Once back in college, at the edge of town in Bloomington, Indiana, when I felt particularly invincible, I jumped off a 70-foot high rock quarry into the waters below. That was so stupid. I actually hit the water feet-first almost exactly as you’d draw it up but the force was so strong it buckled my knees below me so much that I nearly kneed myself in the chin. I could’ve seriously fucked myself up or worse that day. And so I vowed, BOB, YOU IDIOT, NEVER AGAIN.
