Back in 1974 scientists submitted the Arecibe message. It was our first attempt to contact aliens that was essentially just a doodle. Nice!
Well, a new batch of scientists are working on another one of these babies. It’s a radio message they want to beam out all across space for any intelligent life to hear.
Cool idea! Now what the f*ck are the consequences?
The message in ’74 contained a “stick figure of a human as well as representations of our solar system, DNA, and the Arecibo telescope.” (Via Newsweek).
This new message takes on all the same things (but assumedly, better) and includes additional math and science.
Great. Now they’re gonna think we’re all nerds, too.
