That’s us up there, celebrating reaching Billy’s $37,000 goal. Little did we know that was only the beginning.
Yesterday, we posted a story about Billy Wynne, a helicopter paramedic who was the lone survivor of a horrible helicopter crash in Oklahoma City.
The Chive Fund set the pace by donating $85,000 to build Billy a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool for his intensive rehab.
We then asked theCHIVE community to donate $37,000 to help buy Billy at Toyota FJ Cruiser.
This is where things got interesting.
Within minutes, the Michigan Chivers had already donated the hand controls and donations were starting to roll in.
It’s a fascinating thing, the way the Chivers donate to charity campaigns but the mentality that drives it you’ll find nowhere else on earth: The Chivers smashed the goal within minutes and, once the goal was reached, the donations begin to actually accelerate.
How fast? Let’s look at the math. Within only 7 hours you had tripled the goal. That breaks down to $264 every minute with an average donation of $26. That’s lightning fast. You’ve now hit the $130,000 mark and changed a family’s life forever.
You’ve all once again put yourself on a national stage and delivered when it mattered most.
Still plenty of time to donate.
Well done, Chivers, well done.
