If the name “Yak Face” doesn’t sound familiar, perhaps you aren’t even a true “Star Wars” fan. Kidding, I definitely did not recognize him myself. But this obscure character — also known as “Joe Camel” for its close resemblance to a certain cigarette mascot of old was nixed from toy-maker Kenner’s line after production of the toys had already begun.
Most of the leftover misfit toys were sent to Europe and Canada, making them especially rare and thus prized by American collectors who were largely deprived of the chance to play with “Yak Face” as kids.
One such figure sold for $7,500 in 2015.
