It’s difficult to find the words that haven’t already been said about Heath Ledger, but damnit I’ll sure try. The Oscar-winning actor passed away nearly 16 years ago, and the portfolio of work he left behind is nothing short of spectacular. This may sound harsh, but I tend not to get too hung up on the death of a celebrity… Heath Ledger was different.
I was eating breakfast at Camelot – the hangover diner – in Slippery Rock, PA when I saw the news on my phone. ‘Heath Ledger found dead in NYC apartment.’ No. Fuck. How? Those were my immediate reactions on that cold and miserable January day back in 2008.
I don’t think anybody expected what would come next.
