It wasn’t long ago, my brother and I were home-brewing a black lager for our friends and visitors to theCHIVE office. KCCO is a curious beer; it looks dark but it drinks light. KCCO Black a delicious misfit.
Recently, we invited a ton of our sailors and soldiers to the Redhook Brewery in Woodinville outside Seattle to taste the first big batch of KCCO Black.
I was really nervous to try the beer. We don’t always get it right here at theCHIVE, but the brewers at Redhook brought it home. It tasted just the way it always has. I can’t imagine scaling a recipe like that is an easy task. I can’t express my gratitude enough to Ben Dobler
Matt Licklider for brewing all this in the nick of time.
Thanks so much to the staff at the Willows Lodge for making us feel so at home during our stay. Instead of complaining that our afterparty was wildly irresponsible, the kitchen just sent us up a bunch of food and wished us luck getting to the sunrise.
Thanks especially to all our service men and women who attended. We wanted you to be the first to try the beer. I’m glad y’all liked it but most importantly, I’m glad we all got to relax and raise a glass together again. I’ve made a lot of friends in the Seattle area and we’ll be back soon.
