A Dutch zoo has decided to use a Tinder-like app as a way to study how animals choose their mates. Samboja the Orangutan is the first lucky primate to take her monkey business to the online dating game. The scientists believe that by showing her the lucky suitors on a touchscreen, they can observe and gain a better understanding of what role appearance alone has on mating choice. Obviously the scientists themselves have never been subjected to the thirsty cravings of Tinder users… The Tinder for Orangutans program is just a small portion of a larger experiment aimed at studying emotions in animal relationships.
