Iraq war veteran Matthew DeRemer, like most of us did, saw the New Year as a time to reflect back on the previous year and to begin thinking about goals and aspirations for the coming months. On New Year’s Eve, DeRemer took to Facebook to share his plans for 2016 with friends and family, resolving in a touching post to become a better man in the coming year. Only a few hours later Matthew, who was only 31, was killed by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle near his home.
