A few days back we had the distinct honor and pleasure of shooting the breeze with a couple legends of the gridiron. NFL Hall of Fame players, Tim Brown & Kenny Houston, came in to theCHIVE HQ to watch some playoff football and help support an incredibly important cause. The men were beyond enlightening with great insight on how they trained their bodies to sustain the punishment of an NFL season, as well as how they’ve kept healthy and spry long after their NFL days were over. They also spoke about the rapidly evolving nature of the league today, and whether they believe it is heading in the right direction. Beyond that, the men were incredibly entertaining and had such insane stories to tell (Spoiler alert: Tim Brown being handed the keys to a $70k porch during college and the day he rolled it into rookie mini-camp is beyond a funny story).
The Warriors for Freedom Foundation helps raise awareness to the serious issue of veteran suicide rates of people struggling from PTSD and a number of other debilitating mental illnesses. And on September 1, 2014 the “Remembering the 22” campaign was launched in honor of the 22 confirmed veterans who commit suicide each day due to untreated combat-related stressors and injuries. If you know theCHIVE at all, this topic is very near and dear to our hearts, so we hope you will all take a moment to find out more about this important cause.
