Sword-smith Dave from Heroic Replicas posted a breakdown of how it came to be that he recreated the most iconic grass cutting weapon from the Legend of Zelda series in exquisite detail.
He did extensive research into size and shapes in relation to both the fictional world and the real world and then modeled the Master Sword out in a 3D program.
He cut the blade out from inch thick steel aided by computer guidance. and a plasma cutter
Power washed away the edge to make the point of the blade and to engrave the insignia.
He created molds of the hilt and ornaments to properly assemble the pieces.
Time for the cosmetics. There are a few different shades of purple used for the hilt in the series, so he had to choose carefully from his swatch.
Voila!
Just for good measure he added a cement stand, complete with Triforce insignia.
Not to shabby at all. If you have a wallet full of rupees and a love for all things Zelda, you can order one of these bad boys for yourself. Though there is a large wait time.
