This is not the greatest post in the world, no. This is just a tribute, as Jack Black once said. A tribute to those taking sobriety head on.
As many of you can imagine, we’ve been known to throw back a few here at Chive HQ, and sitting across an open bar can be quite the temptation, but I’m a firm believer in taking “Everything in Moderation.” That’s why I feel it’s appropriate to bring attention to a very important matter, a matter in which can save your life.
I’m not the biggest of drinkers, it’s more of a social thing for me. Besides it occasionally making you act a fool, there are tons of other negative side affects it has that some of you may not be aware of. For instance, too much boozing may cause high blood pressure (hypertension), which increases the risk of a stroke or worse, a heart attack. You’ll also gain tons of unwanted weight. Those excess pounds come thanks to all the calories that are in alcohol. For example, there is roughly 200 calories in a pint of beer, and about 230 calories in about 3 1/2 shots of vodka for some perspective.
I’m not saying completely cut out booze, we all deserve one now and again. But if you find yourself consistently drinking like The Girl On A Train, perhaps it is time to take charge of the longevity of your life, because you never know who you’re going to end up hurting before it’s too late.
Tip of the cap to these folks who are on their way to a healthier lifestyle.
