Sitting at home, feeling alone and trapped. Wanting to go out and do things – making plans, but not realizing them. The constant personal battle to live a full and free life once soldiers return home from protecting it. It’s a battle both of body and mind. “The dimmer on our light switch gets broken,” Tim, a Retired Wounded Special Operator, told us. Now SOWW has helped fix that dimmer, so now I’m able to turn it down. I’m able to go out and do things, I’m not switched ON all the time. I’m not looking over my shoulder constantly wondering has that guy got something? I used to always check everything, I would be exhausted. SOWW has helped me take those steps forward, so I don’t have to act like that – I don’t have to feel like that.”
The organization that has helped Tim and so many others is SOWW (Special Operations Wounded Warriors). SOWW is a 501(c)(3) Charity that provides unique outdoor experiences to both active duty and veteran U.S. Military Special Operations Forces, all of whom are recipients of the Purple Heart Medal for sustaining wounds in the course of their duty.
SOWW focuses on showing gratitude to the SOF men and women who have sacrificed so that we may enjoy the freedoms and safety of our great country. Many of them have suffered everlasting scars, both physical and psychological, and SOWW helps make sure they have the opportunities to enjoy those freedoms they fought for themselves. The friendship and support that the organization offers to everyone involved is astounding. They know that they are able to make a difference in the lives of these Wounded Special Operators.
With Veterans Day coming up, Brownells has partnered with us to support SOWW and honor the noble and brave sacrifices our troops make each and every day.
