In May 2016, the Fort McMurray Wildfire raged through Alberta, Canada, forcing upwards of 88,000 people to be evacuated from their homes. The wildfire swept through the city and destroyed approximately 2,400 homes and buildings. The flames were so bad that planes were brought in to quickly move people out of harm’s way.
Tony Bussey was one of the residents forced from his home. At the time, 43-year-old Bussey weight 567 pounds and because of his size was asked to move to the front of the line along with having to take two seats on the flight. This scarred Bussey so severely, that he made a promise to himself to lose weight.
