Those look like pellets from an air rifle, and…marbles? Maybe a slingshot?

yes im pretty sure, its not so much the density of an object that the bullet hits. but the force (velocity) it hits it at that makes the bullet mushroom. (part of the reason it smarts so much when you get shot)
