Many of you know Dolph Lundgren from his days in iconic action films like Universal Soldier, The Expendables franchise, and of course Rocky IV (which just happens to have the greatest training montage in the history of cinema, if you ask me). But John & I got to meet the man that few people know, who was genuinely sweet, cerebral, and charming as Hell. Did I mention he is a certified genius, because he actually IS. But the story of how Dolph made his way from a brilliant student & gifted fighter growing up in Stockholm, Sweden, to getting his first break into film and ultimately becoming one of the most iconic action stars of our generation is beyond compelling!

Our conversation took us from his early days as a European karate champion, to when he no-name bodyguard for actress Grace Jones, and ultimately how he got his first break into film while standing around on set during a James Bond movie (he starred opposite Christopher Walken and has one of the better stories you'll hear about that brilliant man). He also described how he beat out over 5000 people to get the title role of Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, and how he nearly killed Sylvester Stallone, during the filming of the final fight-- no joke. Plus, just who does Dolph consider to be the real toughest action star in Hollywood? These thoughts, and so many more in a conversation we've been dying to record since our Podcast began!

Get your popcorn ready, this was a fun one!

ALSO, Dolph wants to raise awareness for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) which to assist persons trafficked for the purpose of forced labor and slavery-like practices and to work toward ending ALL instances of such human rights violations. As you can imagine, this is a cause very near and dear to his heart, and I encourage everybody to learn how they can help out HERE.

When the boss is away, the idiots will play. Today's podcast is 'John-less' as he is away on business, so I brought in Doug Harrison (a.k.a. the editor of 'Hump Day') to rant with me about what's wrong with the NFL today, & why the 'Napoleon Complex' is total BS. Of course, while bloviating about height disadvantages, we called in Shelbie Watts (the only female editor for theCHIVE, who just happens to be much smarter than us) to confirm or deny if being a short guy is female kryptonite. Lastly, we discuss pro-tips to survive the Thanksgiving holiday, and just what we think of throwing a 'Friendsgiving' instead.

Our conversations were wild for sure, but at their core they scratched at some fairly deep philosophical issues for you to ponder during your next morning commute -- or wherever you enjoy your podcasts. We hope you enjoy this one, even though John couldn't be there to crack wise with us as always. He'll be back soon, I promise!!

Somehow, for no rational or reasonable reason, Adam Carolla joined us live onstage here in Austin this past weekend to record a Chive Podcast in front of a crowd full of fans (mostly Adam's, of course). Amidst all the election hype, we asked Adam what laws he would enact tomorrow if he were POTUS, and as you could imagine he had a lot to say. He also ranted about bad drivers, poorly thought-out hotels, and the damn unpredictable weather here in Texas. He even got a little serious and told us his one secret key to making a success of yourself, which everybody would be wise to internalize. Whatever the topic, you're always in for a treat when Adam takes to the mic!

AND you absolutely need to check out Adam's new documentary about the epic battle between Ford and Ferrari called 'The 24 Hour War' which you can preorder now through chassy.com and save $2 on the purchase. John and I got to watch a special screening of the movie ourselves and were absolutely gripped from the first shot till the last. And you don't have to be a gearhead to appreciate this film -- believe me, I drive an '06 Hyundai Elantra, and know absolutely nothing about cars. Sorry, Adam.

Lastly, get your hands on Adam's newest brew, Endless Rant IPA, which you can find online at carolladrinks.com. It tastes amazing and it's only 6.2 ABV which means you can have at least 4 or 5 before you begin to blackout. Perfect, right?

Thanks again to Adam for letting a few idiots join him live onstage (twice) this past weekend in Austin. It was a once in a lifetime experience we'll not soon forget!

John and I would've flown to LA this week to sit down with another great guest, as you guys have come to expect from us. That is until we realized that the Cubs had a crack at history and doing the unthinkable -- winning a World Series. We cancelled our trip and strapped in here in Austin for what we hoped would be an epic game 7. So before the game we thought what a perfect time to share how Chicago helped shape what theCHIVE would eventually become. The very name 'Chive' was derived from the 'C-H-I' in Chicago (the 'V-E-' from Venice) and our eventual successes wouldn't have been possible without the gifts that great city has afforded us over the years.

Today, John and I tell true tales from the early days of theCHIVE in Chicago. John describes his most recent trip to Chicago where he watched a World Series Game with the Murray brothers, and he paints the picture of a city that was both excited and a nervous wreck. Stories about how a few broke idiots partied and drunk-blogged late into the nights, dealt with early growing pains, and even how one Mac Faulkner got himself into a nightmare scenario involving a pair of cutoff jean shorts. It seemed like the perfect time to rehash some nostalgic humble beginnings in the windy city.

This episode is rightly dedicated to Chicago. And whether you're a Chiver or are new to the site, we think you guys will get a kick out of our trip down memory lane!

For those of you who have never heard 'The Machine,' which is one of the most hilarious & iconic stories ever told, the man behind the epic true tale is comedian Bert Kreischer. You might know him from his Travel Channel shows like 'Bert the Conqueror' & 'Trip Flip,' or even from his prolific stand-up career. Frankly, John and I know him as arguably the greatest storyteller on the planet. And to say Bert absolutely brought the house down during our conversation would be a massive understatement. Weeks later my sides still hurt.

Bert follows up his epic Machine story with a story about strippers & flying dildos in Amsterdam that had us crying. Sasha Grey has lived about 4 lifetimes in just a very short 28-year span. From being the porn industries' biggest star, to transitioning into major film & television roles like The Entourage, writing a series of best-selling books, and even making a name for herself as respected DJ. Sasha, is a woman of many skillsets, whose beauty is only matched by her intelligence.

We sat down with Sasha and discussed what inspired her to break into the adult entertainment business at just 18 years old, which is both fascinating and empowering. But we also learned some of the pros and cons of being in the porn industry, like keeping up a dating life, dealing with over-the-top fans, and how she suddenly had access to a world of opportunities, events, and people at her beck and call. It wasn't always easy transitioning out of porn and into mainstream media, and dealing with people's hangups and personal attacks, but Sasha has managed to make the transformation with grace, while breaking down a few stigmas & stereotypes along the way. We were thrilled to pick her brain and learn just what makes Sasha tick these days, and you will too!

Austin native, and good friend of theCHIVE, Jimmy Feigen has one insane story to tell you. Some know him from his Gold medal victory at the Rio Olympics for the ‘Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, with Michael Phelps and company. And yet others, sadly, know him as one of the swimmers whose passports was detained after a gas station incident in Rio that was later embellished in an account by Ryan Lochte, which led to an absolute media nightmare. And, for the first time ever, Jimmy was publicly able to set the record straight with exactly what went down at that bathroom stop in Rio!

We promise when you hear his account of what actually occurred that night in Rio where he was held at gunpoint, along with the ensuing P.R. wild fire that grew out of control, and ultimately the insanity it took him to escape the country, you will be riveted. Forget what stories & narratives you heard in the media, the real story is far more intense, compelling and absolutely baffling.

We're so happy Jimmy took the time to talk to us, and even if you're not a fan of the Olympics, this is a powerful story that you have to hear for yourself! And in the end, we're sure you will see Jimmy as the great guy, and Olympic Gold Medalist champion that he deserves to be remembered as!

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet your biggest hero? For John & I, sitting down with Bruce Campbell was like getting to chat with Santa Claus himself. And to be quite honest, the man is as dashing as he is entertaining. Our discussion ranged from his life growing up in a small midwestern town in Michigan, to meeting his most outrageous fans, what it was like visiting the troops at a FOB in Afghanistan, and even how treacherous it is to have a massive movie set village constructed on his home's property. AND if you think we didn't speak at length about Army of Darkness, and the entire Evil Dead universe, you'd be dead-ite wrong. I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Aside from being one of the world's most groovy guys, Bruce is quite the scholar, having read about an array of unique & interesting influential people throughout time that have helped shape his philosophy on life. I can say without hesitation that Bruce absolutely lived up to the lifetime of hype we'd built-up in our minds. And you guys are going to love listening to every once of this wild conversation!

We’re also so excited to continue watching Bruce and company kickass in Season 2 of Ash Vs. Evil Dead, which kicks off Sunday Oct. 2nd on the Starz network!!

And thanks again to Bruce Campbell for joining us, and being every bit the charming, yet humble, human being we always dreamed.

The minute Edward Norton walked into our New York office I immediately thought to myself, "let's get the man in front of the microphone before he realizes what a horrible mistake he's made." And yet Edward took his time getting to know John and I, prying into details about theCHIVE, our incredible community, and especially our involvement with charity. This philanthropic culture is what really seemed to peek Ed's (too early to call him "Ed"?) interest. As a matter of fact, we would soon learn that he saw a world of opportunity between theCHIVE Nation and his own fundraising platform Crowdrise where we could kickstart a change the world desperately needs.

Our conversation was wildly engaging from the get-go. Of course tales from the set of his most iconic films like Fight Club, Primal Fear, Birdman, & Sausage Party were all par for the course. But we also heard stories from his own upbringing, as well as learned what kickstarted his passion for philanthropy in the first place. All in all, having a chance to chat for hours with a 3-time Oscar nominated actor was beyond an honor, but to learn what a terrific guy Ed is made it all the more special. I could tell you more, but that would be breaking the first two rules of Fight Club...sorry...the opportunity was there. You guys are in for a rare and exclusive conversation with one of the elite actors of our generation, so strap-in and enjoy!!

And make sure to check out the world’s #1 fundraising platform at CrowdRise, and all of our Chivers can start their own fundraiser by clicking on Crowdrise.com/chivenation. You can be the difference the world needs right now.

John and I spend a good amount of time dishing out ill-informed relationship advice on the podcast with the best case being that we get something right once in a blue moon. If you throw 1000 darts at a board you’re bound to hit the bullseye sooner or later, right? So as inept as we are, we desperately needed a female perspective to help clue us in to a mindset as far away from ours as possible. But beyond discussing how to maintain a healthy relationship, we spoke specifically to the girls of theChive office who we knew had a fine grasp of what it is to be stuck in a dysfunctional relationship.

Our conversation took us to fascinating places that anybody trying to better understand the great divide between sexes could learn from. Trainwreck relationship stories were told, insightful revelations were shared, and a few common themes emerged from the lively banter that I would advise anybody to take to heart. John and I held nothing back when talking to Taylor Wood, Carman Dickman, and Jennifer McCall, and believe me when I say their answers were nothing short of eye-opening. And where we ended up I’ll take as the gospel truth for the rest of my days.

This candid dialogue was a riot you don’t want to miss.

As per our tradition, John and I like to bring the Podcast back to the people about once every quarter or so. And frankly, after having both Jeff Bridges & Chris Pine on last week's show, we really had nowhere to go but down. Right? Kidding aside, we actually love the opportunity to talk about current events happening with theCHIVE, and to answer more of your guys' ridiculous questions that we often don't have time to answer on a regular basis.

In addition, we give our thoughts on the current Olympic frenzy, including Michael Phelps, "cupping", the piss-poor Rio living accommodations, and how we all become judgmental assholes once every four years. We also dabble over our new favorite show 'Stranger Things' both for what we love and also for what we're lukewarm on. Today we are graced with not one but TWO heavyweights of Hollywood. Both Jeff Bridges, and Chris Pine, joined us here in Texas while they promote their new film 'Hell or High Water,' which currently has 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, BTW. And after viewing a private screening of the film, we understand exactly why the praise is so high. It's an amazing film that's wholly original and story/character driven -- how refreshing is that?!

But aside from the film, we also had a wonderful & personal conversation that will really catch you by surprise. Take for instance the amazing story behind how Jeff met and courted his future wife. Or how both these guy's famous families had different opinions on whether or not they should embark on a career in entertainment. Both men even shared, in incredible detail, their tricks and secrets to nailing the audition process, for all those aspiring actors out there.

Honestly, if you're not sold on Jeff Bridges & Chris Pine alone, then there's nothing else I can say to sway you. For everybody else, this conversation was something truly special.

Jeff Garlin, the actor, comedian, producer, and co-creator of a little show called 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' was an absolute delight to sit down and talk with. Of course, as 'Curb' fanatics, we couldn't help but talk about his experiences on the show, and working with the eccentric & brilliant Larry David, and we also picked his brain for details about the new season of 'Curb' that will be coming back soon!

In our conversation, we talked about everything from pros & cons of specific regional ideologies, to the institution of marriage and how our current mindset needs tweaking, and yes, we even dabbled in a little politics. Don't worry, we kept things light as is our mantra when referencing such a divisive topic. Long story short, we had a wonderful, hilarious, and oddly insightful dialogue that was as authentic as we've ever had on any Podcast.

I told John immediately after speaking with actor, musician, & funny man Jim Breuer that I don't think we've ever had a more energetic and rowdy conversation than that. Actor and comedian Baron Vaughn is voicing the bubble gum headed robot, Tom Servo, on the cult-hit show Mystery Science Theater 3000 thanks to the biggest crowdfunding campaign ever launched. We talked to him about why a show featuring two robots & a human ripping on crappy B-movies makes for such an entertaining and satisfying experience. He also described what it's like working with such iconic veteran actors like Martin Sheen & Lily Tomlin on the hit Netflix show 'Grace & Frankie' (a personal favorite of mine & my wife's).

Baron also hit us with a few conversational curveballs like how the film 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' was actually created as a sequel to 'Chinatown' and what it's like chatting with one Ian McKellen.

You can find stand-up tour dates, Podcast links, and more updates at his website. If you’re not watching Grace & Frankie on Netflix, I'm a huge fan and highly recommend it. And lastly be on the lookout for a completely new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the upcoming months!! Details are still rolling in as we speak.

Those who know me well get that two of my great passions are movies & nostalgia. John & I got in depth with both of those subjects with the ever-iconic actor Corey Feldman. But what you might not know about Corey is that his greatest passion is actually music, and he has been secretly developing a double-album called 'Angelic 2 the Core' for the past decade.

Corey discussed his love for music, as well as indulged all our geek-out questions such as: will there be a 'Goonies' sequel; what did the process recording 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' look like, and just how was it working with the likes of Tom Hanks on the set of 'The Burbs?' Other pleasant surprises included the surprising amount of money he made for TMNT and what it was like meeting The Beatles. This podcast will have your gripped from start to finish!

We’re proud to present Corey’s double-album ‘Angelic 2 The Core,’ which you can purchase now at angelic2thecore, amazonmusic, OR Spotify!

AND for actual physical copies (not downloads), you can find those albums RIGHT HERE

Send your warm wishes to Corey at his Twitter Page!

John has said it many times before, and I second his belief, that comedians always make for the best podcasts. Jo Koy not only lived up to all our expectations as a comedic Tour de Force, but he also surprised us with his humility talking about his early days growing up in Tacoma and later Las Vegas where he hustled madly to make a name for himself in the comedy world. Wait till you hear about the time he first went on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno', and received one of the few standing ovations ever in the show's history. The details of the story will get you choked up and likely move to inspire.

Jo also imparted wonderful life lessons, and advice for aspiring comedians and for anybody trying to ascend the ranks at their office. We also got nostalgic and talked about Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, and even the great Eddie Murphy, in what was one Helluva conversation!

I won't lie, it was difficult not to geek-out when talking to legendary comedy filmmaker, David Zucker, who has done everything from 'Airplane', to the 'Naked Gun' series. But the acclaimed writer/director was an absolute delight, and he spoke candidly about his films and what it took to get them made before Hollywood even understood what "slapstick comedy" was.

Of course, we listened to stories about hanging with the late, great actor Leslie Nielsen both on and off the set (spoiler, he told of a great fart prank story Leslie pulled). David even went on to describe the time he spent with South Park directors Matt Stone and Trey Parker, both up-and-comers at the time, when they filmed 'BASEketball' together. What might surprise you the most is David's philosophy on what it takes to make a great comedy, and how it takes far more than writing a series of funny jokes.
