He doesn't really wish he grew up with that; it's just a few words to tie a bunch of random pictures together.

    • Dan

That's kind of the point– who would you be if you had been born in these circumstances? There's nothing about 'want' or 'wish', just trying to imagine how life would be different, and how YOU would be different.

#11 How different the times were back then… Would a kid, these days, be that happy with a pair of new shoes?

    • Tiber_Septim

back then they would have played with sticks and pebbles and been happy

    • tv_paul

My kids aren't happy a couple of days after they get some new (DS, Ipod). They complain there's a newer, better one out. I however have two pairs of shoe, one for work the other a pair of sneakers held together with duct tape.

      • OmahaDude

I hate to be the one to break this to you Paul, but your kids are spoiled. Not passing judgement, mind you, just stating a fact. It's correctable though.

        • tv_paul

To a degree they are. We don't have a lot of money but we try to get them what they want. They don't have cell phones or a lot of things other kids their age have. And they really don't ask for that much but it just seems whenever they get something, something a little better comes out and they see their friends getting it so they want it. They do tons of sports & extra curricular activities and community service (work in kitchens to feed battered women & children, they raise money for needy families, recycling projects) and the all have great grades so I can't really complain.

          • shane

Sound like you are doing a good job at being a parnet. *high five* Glad there are still good parents out there.

          • OmahaDude

Now I feel like a dick. I guess the way you stated it in your first comment made it seem like they were little complainers, but your statement above makes me reconsider their "spoiled-ness". I think every parent should try and give their kids nice things, and that appears to be what you are doing. I stand corrected.

            • tv_paul

It's okay. I can see now I put it that way. Basically, what I meant to say is you can never keep up what kids want. And again they don't whine ( well sometimes they do) about it. It's just hard for them to understand sometimes why they can't have what their friends have. I do without so they can have stuff (I did two chive shirts this year so that's about all I'll spend on myself this year)
