I had the pleasure of meeting Carrie Fisher a few years back and I’m happy to share the story. My brother and I had somehow scored tickets to a private show with Eddie Izzard in a tiny 99-seat blackbox theatre in Hollywood. Carrie Fisher sat behind us with some friends.
Eddie was on fire that night as I recall, testing out new material for his upcoming gig at the Hollywood Bowl. Carrie Fisher was laughing so hard. I remember thinking she was everything a comic loves, a great audience.
After the show nobody really wanted to leave. Everybody just hung out. I approached Carrie and told her she was a great audience member, I loved the way she laughed. She replied, “I never thought about that? If it’s funny, I laugh.” Carrie took pictures with everybody who asked that night. You could tell she was happy to be there, to have a good laugh.
The streets of heaven are crowded tonight, waiting to meet their Princess.
Rest in peace, Carrie.
